'Ana in Love' stage production - Pre-rehearsal press release shots

This is a shot from a series I did publicising the latest work of Paloma Pedro, which is being adapted for performance in London by Robert Shaw. The story revolves around three women and their attachment to one man missing in the aftermath of the Madrid train bombings. It is scheduled to coincide with the anniversary of the 7th July bombings in London and is being performed at the Hackney Empire Acorn Studio from 12 June – 8 July.

The actresses all of which are notable for their numerous television and stage appearances and four of them from left to right are Jessica Oyelowo, Maisie Dimbleby, Ann Firbank and Isobel Pravda.

These shots should be appearing in Time Out and the Guardian Guide over the next few weeks.

In the Chair...

This is part of a recent series I did with a good friend of mine Ken Koh (a photographer not the model in the chair!) for the front cover of Diplo magazine. This isn't the image they'll use but part of the practice shots leading up to the final composition. It's meant to loosely replicate the famous photo of Christine Keeler in 'the chair' shot by Lewis Morley in 1963.

Passport photos...

Been distracting myself from revision by trying to recreate the old photo-booth feel...

Testing a Canon 16-35 f/2.8

These were just some shots I took at the weekend in Soho with a friend's Canon 16-35 f/2.8 an awesome lens at an awesome price. Still it's not surprising that for such an expensive lens it produces alright pictures...
My favourite shot is at the top of the little girl and her not very impressed mother. What made it funnier was that in some strange attempt to placate her impatient mum the little girl said something along the lines of 'oooh what lovely shoes you have mummy'. I guess you had to be there....

Elephant and Castle invades Westminster

When this giant elephant came to London it caused a lot of fuss and excitement so I thought it'd be worth checking out. The first day armed only with my camera I got a dead battery within minutes. So I went back two days later and caught it roaming round the West end...

The elephant itself was over forty foot tall...

Confused onlookers stare at crushed cars and a hole in the ground which had held only a few hours previously a wooden space rocket. This was a part of the elaborate street theatre organized by the French company Royal de Lux which told the story of a sultans elephant and a little girl. It was a truely bizarre but magical show to watch.

Clowning around

These shots were taken not long ago when some of my housemates dressed up to go to a fancy dress party. I have to respect them because they sat on a night bus half way through South London dressed like this. Then again I personally have always found clowns quite disturbing. The fact that as a small child my older brother read extracts from Steven King's IT to me, probably didn't help matters. Still there is something quite interesting in the concept of wearing a mask which probably exposes more than it covers; in the sense that it becomes to symbolise something on the inside. Regardless of whether or not this is the case I still find these pictures rather unsettling!
